Ingredients

  • 300 grams salmon fillet
  • 400 grams puff pastry
  • 120 grams cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 stalks green onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Lightly flour a clean work surface and roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle approximately 12 inches by 16 inches. Cut the pastry into four equal rectangles.

Step 3

In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, finely chopped fresh dill, lemon zest, thinly sliced green onion, sea salt, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined.

Step 4

Cut the salmon fillet into four equal portions. Spread a generous tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each puff pastry rectangle, leaving about 1 inch of space along the edges.

Step 5

Place a portion of salmon on top of the cream cheese mixture in each rectangle.

Step 6

Fold the short edges of the puff pastry inward, then carefully roll the pastry around the salmon to create a neat parcel. Press the edges to seal tightly.

Step 7

Place the strudels seam-side-down on the prepared baking sheet. Beat the egg in a small bowl and use it to brush the tops and sides of the strudels for a glossy finish.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and allow the strudels to cool for 5 minutes. Serve warm, garnished with a sprig of dill or a wedge of lemon, if desired.
