Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tomato
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 whole-grain burger buns
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp lime juice

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey with garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly combined, but do not overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat and add olive oil.

Step 4

Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the patties are fully cooked through and golden brown on the outside.

Step 5

While the patties cook, slice the avocado and tomato, and prepare the lettuce leaves.

Step 6

Mix the mayonnaise and lime juice together in a small bowl to make a quick lime mayo.

Step 7

Toast the whole-grain burger buns in the oven or on a grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by spreading the lime mayo on the bottom bun, adding the turkey patty, followed by slices of avocado, tomato, and a lettuce leaf. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your California Turkey Burger with a side of salad or sweet potato fries.
