Directions

Step 1

Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the flour to the butter and whisk continuously to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until it turns a pale golden color.

Gradually pour in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
