Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 1 piece tomato, sliced
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 4 pieces cheddar cheese slices

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly combined, but avoid overmixing.

Step 2

Divide the seasoned beef into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.

Step 3

Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil. Once the oil is shimmering, place the burger patties in the pan.

Step 4

Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the pan to melt the cheese.

Step 5

While the burgers are cooking, prepare the spicy mayo by combining the mayonnaise and hot sauce in a small bowl. Stir until smooth and set aside.

Step 6

Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by spreading the spicy mayo on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with a lettuce leaf, a burger patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and the top bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries or a crisp salad. Enjoy!
