Ingredients

  • 1 medium head (about 500g) Cabbage
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 whole Dried red chilies
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 cup Grated fresh coconut
  • 8 leaves Curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon (or to taste) Salt
  • 1 chopped Green chilies

Directions

Step 1

Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage, cut it into quarters, and chop it finely. Wash and drain the shredded cabbage in a colander.

Step 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the mustard seeds and let them pop for about 30 seconds.

Step 4

Add the cumin seeds and dried red chilies. Sauté for 1 minute until aromatic.

Step 5

Add the curry leaves and chopped green chilies, stirring for another 30 seconds.

Step 6

Add the shredded cabbage and stir well to coat it in the spices.

Step 7

Sprinkle the turmeric powder and salt over the cabbage. Stir to combine evenly.

Cover the skillet and cook on low heat for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but not overcooked.

Add the grated fresh coconut and mix it into the cabbage. Cook uncovered for 2 more minutes to let the flavors meld.
