Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 4 cups Green cabbage, chopped
  • 2 cups Cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 cup Tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up into small pieces with a wooden spoon.

Step 3

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

Step 4

Stir in the chopped cabbage, cooking for 5-7 minutes or until slightly softened.

Step 5

Add the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika to the skillet. Stir well to combine, then simmer for 5 more minutes.

Step 6

In a 9x13-inch casserole dish, spread a layer of the cooked rice evenly on the bottom.

Step 7

Pour the cabbage and ground beef mixture over the rice, spreading it evenly. Press it down gently with a spatula to compact the mixture.

Step 8

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.

Step 9

Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Step 10

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 11

Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy your hearty and flavorful Cabbage Burger Casserole!
