Ingredients

  • 6 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 2.5 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup Warm water (100–110°F)
  • 1 cup Milk (warm, 100–110°F)
  • 4 tablespoons Butter (melted)
  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 3 cups Green cabbage (shredded)
  • 1 medium White onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (for filling)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir and let it sit for 5-7 minutes until frothy.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

Step 3

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 5

While the dough rises, make the filling. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 6

Add diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened. Then, add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Step 7

Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces with a wooden spoon.

Step 8

Stir in shredded cabbage, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is tender. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

Step 9

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and flatten it into a 6-inch circle.

Step 10

Place 2-3 tablespoons of the beef and cabbage filling in the center of each dough circle.

Step 11

Pull the edges of the dough up and over the filling, pinching to seal tightly. Place the buns seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.

Step 12

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the buns with a towel and let them rest for 20 minutes.

Step 13

Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 14

Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter immediately after taking them out of the oven.

Step 15

Let the buns cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
