Heat a skillet over medium heat.
Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Set aside.
Season the cooked chicken breast with salt and pepper to taste.
Place 2 slices of sourdough bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
Spread 1 tablespoon of pesto sauce on the top (unbuttered) side of each slice in the skillet.
Layer on 1/2 cup of cooked chicken, 2 slices of Havarti cheese, 2 slices of crispy bacon, and 3 basil leaves on each slice of bread in the skillet.
Spread another tablespoon of pesto sauce on the unbuttered side of the remaining slices of sourdough bread, then place them on top of the sandwich fillings, buttered side facing up.
