Ingredients

  • 1 lb Beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 0.3333 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 4 cups Broccoli florets
  • 2 teaspoons Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 4 cups Cooked white rice (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the beef sirloin or flank steak against the grain into bite-sized strips and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, minced garlic, minced ginger, and brown sugar until combined. Add the sliced beef to the bowl, toss to coat, and let it marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 3

While the beef is marinating, bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the broccoli florets for 1-2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1/4 cup water to create a slurry. Set aside.

Step 5

Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil and let it heat until shimmering. Add the marinated beef (reserving excess marinade) and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Step 6

In the same pan, add sesame oil and the reserved marinade. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce starts to thicken, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

Return the beef and blanched broccoli to the pan. Toss everything together, ensuring the sauce thoroughly coats the beef and broccoli. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the beef is tender and the broccoli is cooked to your liking.

Step 8

Remove from heat and serve hot over cooked white rice. Enjoy your delicious Beef and Broccoli!
