Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly with clean hands or a spoon until well combined.

Step 3

Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it on the prepared baking sheet or press it evenly into the loaf pan.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard for the topping. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 5

Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 6

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute, keeping the meatloaf moist.

Step 7

Slice and serve warm. Pair with mashed potatoes, vegetables, or a side salad for a complete meal.
