Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 2 medium Yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 Brioche burger buns
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  • 4 Tomato slices

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, prepared horseradish, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and set aside in the refrigerator.

Step 2

Thinly slice the yellow onions. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up during cooking. Season both sides of each patty with salt and pepper.

Step 4

Brush the grill grates with the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness (adjust cooking time based on your preferred doneness). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Step 5

Lightly toast the brioche buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Step 6

To assemble the burgers, spread a generous amount of horseradish sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, a burger patty with melted cheese, and a scoop of sauteed onions. Finish with the top half of the bun.

Step 7

Serve immediately and enjoy!
