Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 8 oz Button mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup Beef broth
  • 1 tsp Soy sauce
  • 1 Onion (thinly sliced)
  • 4 Burger buns
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  • 8 Tomato slices
  • 4 Cheddar cheese slices

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the burger patties by seasoning the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the meat into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties about 1 inch thick. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until deeply caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Once the butter is melted, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are golden brown and tender.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the mushrooms and sauté for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Stir in the heavy cream, beef broth, and soy sauce. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes, until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 5

Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease it. Cook the burger patties for 3-4 minutes on each side for a medium-rare doneness, or longer for your preferred doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt slightly.

Step 6

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a burger patty topped with cheese, two tomato slices, a spoonful of caramelized onions, and a generous drizzle of mushroom sauce. Top with the remaining bun halves.

Step 8

Serve immediately, and enjoy your gourmet 'Burger Elegance with Mushroom Sauce'.
