Ingredients

  • 500 grams Brussels sprouts
  • 1 large Red onion
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar
  • 1.5 tablespoons Honey
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any discolored outer leaves. Slice the sprouts in half lengthwise.

Step 2

Peel the red onion and slice it thinly into half-moons.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the Brussels sprouts cut side down in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, undisturbed, until they develop a golden brown sear. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove the sprouts from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium-low and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Toss in the sliced red onions and sauté, stirring occasionally, for 4-5 minutes until they begin to soften.

Step 5

Add the balsamic vinegar, honey, and water to the skillet with the onions. Stir well to combine and allow the mixture to simmer gently for 2-3 minutes until it thickens and the onions are fully glazed.

Step 6

Return the seared Brussels sprouts to the skillet and toss them in the glazed onions. Season with salt and ground black pepper.

Step 7

Cook for another 2-3 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally to ensure the sprouts are evenly coated with the glaze.

Step 8

Remove from heat and serve warm as a side dish. Enjoy!
