  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups seafood stock (or chicken stock)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 4 servings cooked white rice or pasta (for serving)
  • 0 to taste salt
  • 0 to taste black pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with the olive oil over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the chopped onion, garlic, and red bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables have softened.

Step 5

Stir in the heavy cream, Cajun seasoning, paprika, and optional hot sauce. Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper to taste.

Step 6

Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the parsley and half of the green onions.

Step 8

Serve the shrimp and sauce over a bed of cooked white rice or pasta. Garnish with the remaining green onions for a fresh finish.
