Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain off any excess fat and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
