Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Macaroni pasta
  • 4 cups Broccoli florets
  • 12 ounces Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook according to the package instructions for al dente. Add the broccoli florets during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove the sausage casings (if applicable) and add the sausage to the pan, breaking it into small pieces with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Pour the heavy cream and chicken broth into the skillet. Stir well and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Step 5

Gradually stir in the Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt into the sauce. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

Step 6

Add the cooked macaroni, broccoli, and sausage to the skillet. Toss to coat everything in the sauce evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes over low heat to warm through.

Step 7

Serve the broccoli macaroni with sausage immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
