Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Eggs
  • 2 slices Bread (white or wholemeal)
  • 15 grams Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Marmite
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Pepper

Directions

Step 1

Fill a small saucepan with water, making sure there is enough to completely submerge the eggs. Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium heat.

Step 2

Carefully lower the eggs into the boiling water using a spoon to avoid cracking. Set a timer for 6 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 8 minutes for medium-set yolks.

Step 3

While the eggs are boiling, place the slices of bread in a toaster and toast until golden brown.

Step 4

Once toasted, spread butter evenly over the surface of each slice of bread while still warm.

Step 5

Spread Marmite thinly over the buttered toast. Adjust the amount of Marmite to your taste, as its flavor is quite strong and salty.

Step 6

Cut each slice of toast into 4 even strips to create the 'soldiers' for dipping.

Step 7

When the timer goes off, remove the eggs from the boiling water using a slotted spoon and immediately place them in a bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process.

Step 8

After a minute, gently tap the eggs on a hard surface to crack the shell and carefully peel them. Alternatively, leave the eggs unpeeled if you prefer to dip directly into the shells.

Step 9

Place the eggs in egg cups, slice off the tops with a knife, and sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper if desired.

Step 10

Serve the eggs with the Marmite soldiers for dipping. Enjoy your comforting British breakfast in bed!
