Ingredients

  • 1 pound lump crabmeat
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 2 tablespoons panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking dish by lightly greasing it or spraying with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, gently pick through the lump crabmeat to remove any shells, being careful not to break up the pieces too much. Set aside.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, heavy cream, egg yolk, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper until fully combined.

Step 4

Gently fold the crabmeat into the prepared sauce mixture, ensuring it is evenly coated without breaking the lumps.

Step 5

Divide the mixture evenly into ramekins or spread it in the prepared baking dish.

Step 6

In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the panko breadcrumbs and stir until they are golden-brown and toasted, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 7

Sprinkle the toasted breadcrumbs evenly over the crab mixture. Dust the top with paprika for color.

Step 8

Place the dish or ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.

Step 9

Remove the Crabmeat Imperial from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Step 10

Serve hot as a main course or appetizer with a side of lemon wedges and enjoy!
