Add the milk and butter to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave in 30-second increments until the butter is melted and the mixture is warm (about 110°F).
Pour the warmed milk and butter into the bread machine pan.
Add the egg, granulated sugar, and salt to the bread machine pan.
Add the flour on top of the wet ingredients, creating a slight mound.
Sprinkle the instant yeast evenly over the top of the flour.
Place the bread machine pan in the machine and select the 'Dough' cycle. Start the machine and let it mix, knead, and rise the dough as per the cycle duration (typically 90 minutes).
