Ingredients

  • 4 links Bratwurst sausages
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 large Yellow onion
  • 2 cups Sauerkraut
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Caraway seeds (optional)
  • 4 large Flour tortillas
  • 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the bratwurst sausages and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 2

Thinly slice the yellow onion. Using the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the sliced onion. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft and caramelized.

Step 3

Add the sauerkraut, brown sugar, caraway seeds (if using), salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the onions. Stir well to combine and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove from heat.

Step 4

Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for about 10-20 seconds, just until pliable.

Step 5

Spread 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard across the center of each tortilla.

Step 6

Slice the cooked bratwurst in half lengthwise (if desired, for easier wrapping) and place one link (or two halves) onto each tortilla.

Step 7

Top the bratwurst with a generous portion of the onion sauerkraut mixture.

Step 8

Fold the sides of the tortilla inward, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to encase the filling.

Step 9

Serve the bratwurst wraps warm, with extra mustard on the side if desired.
