Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 1 small (finely chopped) yellow onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup additional ketchup (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, finely chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3

Using clean hands or a wooden spoon, gently mix until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated. Be careful not to overwork the mixture, as this can result in a dense meatloaf.

Step 4

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and press it down gently to shape it into an even loaf.

Step 5

In a small bowl, prepare the glaze by mixing the brown sugar, additional ketchup, and yellow mustard until smooth.

Step 6

Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf using a spoon or spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

Step 8

Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Step 9

Serve warm with your kid’s favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables, and enjoy!
