Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Bow tie pasta (farfalle)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 medium Onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoons Crushed red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 cups Vodka
  • 14 ounces Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 0.5 cups Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh basil leaves, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the bow tie pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and set it aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat until the butter is melted and shimmering.

Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 4-5 minutes, or until softened and translucent.

Stir in the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.

Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately. Optionally, sprinkle additional Parmesan cheese on top.
