Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups chopped pecans
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup marshmallows (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into large chunks. Place the chunks in a large pot of water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until very tender.

Step 3

Drain the sweet potatoes and transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Mash them until smooth using a potato masher or an electric mixer.

Step 4

Add 4 tablespoons of melted butter, brown sugar, milk, bourbon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the mashed sweet potatoes. Mix until fully combined.
