Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons bourbon
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Peel the sweet potatoes and chop them into 1-inch cubes. Place the cubes into a large baking dish.

Step 3

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar, maple syrup, grated ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, bourbon, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture is smooth and fragrant.

Step 4

Pour the bourbon-ginger glaze evenly over the sweet potatoes in the baking dish. Gently toss the potatoes to ensure they are well coated.

Step 5

Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.

Step 6

After 35 minutes, remove the foil and stir the sweet potatoes to redistribute the glaze. If using, sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top for added texture and flavor.

Step 7

Return the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and slightly caramelized around the edges.

Step 8

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm as a side dish to complement your favorite holiday or comfort food meal.
