Ingredients

  • 24 pieces fresh oysters
  • 0.5 cups oyster liquor (reserved from oysters)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1.5 cups breadcrumbs (preferably fresh)
  • 1 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons paprika (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or similar casserole dish with butter.

Step 2

Shuck the oysters if necessary, reserving their liquor, and set both aside. Strain the oyster liquor through a fine sieve to remove any grit.

Step 3

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the breadcrumbs and stir constantly until they are golden brown and evenly coated with butter. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4

In a small saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Warm the mixture over low heat without letting it boil, stirring frequently. Remove from heat once warmed.
