Ingredients

  • 4 whole Bananas
  • 200 ml Guinness stout
  • 250 ml Heavy cream
  • 50 grams Brown sugar
  • 30 grams Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 handful Optional: Chopped roasted hazelnuts or whipped cream for garnish

Directions

Step 1

Peel the bananas and slice them lengthwise into halves. Set aside on a plate.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, pour in the Guinness and bring it to a gentle simmer. Allow it to reduce by half, approximately 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.

Step 3

Once the Guinness has reduced, lower the heat to medium-low and add the heavy cream, brown sugar, butter, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 4

While the sauce is thickening, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add a small knob of butter to the skillet and sauté the sliced bananas for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden and slightly caramelized. Remove from the heat.

Step 5

To assemble, spoon a generous amount of the Guinness cream sauce onto a serving plate. Place the caramelized banana halves on top of the sauce.

Step 6

If desired, garnish with whipped cream, a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, and chopped roasted hazelnuts for added crunch and flavor.

Step 7

Serve immediately, and enjoy this decadent fusion of sweet and malty goodness!
