Ingredients

  • 500 grams fresh blackberries
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 120 milliliters water
  • 60 milliliters vodka
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 200 grams fresh mixed berries (e.g., raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries)
  • 5 leaves mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the blackberries thoroughly under cold water and drain well.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved. This should take about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and allow the simple syrup to cool to room temperature.

Step 3

In a blender or food processor, add the blackberries and cooled simple syrup. Blend until smooth.

Step 4

Strain the blackberry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove seeds and achieve a smooth puree. Discard the seeds.

Step 5

Stir in the vodka and fresh lemon juice into the strained blackberry puree. Mix until fully incorporated.

Step 6

Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually around 20-25 minutes, until it reaches a sorbet consistency. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze, stirring every 30 minutes to break up ice crystals, until smooth and frozen (approximately 4-5 hours).

Step 7

While the sorbet is freezing, prepare the mixed berries by rinsing and patting them dry. Hull and slice the strawberries, if using.

Step 8

To serve, scoop the sorbet into bowls and top with the fresh mixed berries. Garnish with mint leaves for an extra touch of freshness, if desired.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade blackberry and vodka sorbet with mixed berries!
