Ingredients

  • 15 oz black beans
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 optional jalapeño pepper

Directions

Step 1

Drain and rinse the black beans thoroughly under cold water.

Step 2

In a food processor, combine the black beans, cream cheese, sour cream, and lime juice. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Step 3

Add the garlic powder, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the food processor. Blend again to incorporate the spices.

Step 4

Chop the fresh cilantro and stir half of it into the dip mixture. Reserve the remaining cilantro for garnish.

Step 5

If you enjoy a spicy kick, finely dice the jalapeño pepper (removing the seeds for less heat) and stir it into the dip.

Step 6

Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and the remaining chopped cilantro over the top.

Step 7

Serve immediately with tortilla chips, crackers, or veggie sticks. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
