Ingredients

  • 16 ounces Refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 pound Ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 6 count Large eggs
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or oil.

Step 2

Open and separate the biscuit dough. Cut each biscuit into quarters and place them evenly into the prepared baking dish.

Step 3

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until it is browned and fully cooked. Remove the cooked sausage from the skillet using a slotted spoon and set aside.

Step 4

To the same skillet with the sausage drippings, add the all-purpose flour. Whisk and cook the flour for 1-2 minutes, or until lightly golden.

Step 5

Gradually add the milk while whisking constantly to create a gravy. Cook the mixture, stirring frequently, until it thickens (about 3-4 minutes).

Step 6

Stir in the cooked sausage, salt, and pepper into the gravy. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 7

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat, then pour in the eggs. Scramble the eggs until just set but still soft, then remove from heat.

Step 8

Layer the cooked scrambled eggs evenly over the biscuit pieces in the baking dish.

Step 9

Pour the sausage gravy over the eggs and biscuits, spreading it out evenly.

Step 10

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.

Step 11

Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the biscuits are cooked through.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped green onions, if desired, before serving.

Step 13

Slice into portions and serve warm. Enjoy!
