Ingredients

  • 200 grams Spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 pieces Eggs
  • 50 grams Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 30 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 200 milliliters Marinara sauce
  • 8 pieces Cherry-sized mozzarella balls
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 8 pieces Fresh basil leaves
  • 1 liter Water

Directions

Step 1

Bring 1 liter of water to a boil in a large pot. Add a generous pinch of salt and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a muffin tin with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs. Add the cooked spaghetti to the mixture, tossing gently to coat the strands evenly.

Step 4

Twist small portions of the coated spaghetti into nest-like shapes and place them into the greased muffin tin wells. Push down the center of each nest slightly to create an indentation.

Step 5

Bake the spaghetti nests in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until golden and set. Remove them from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before carefully removing from the tin.

Step 6

Meanwhile, heat the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.

Step 7

To serve, place the baked spaghetti nests on a platter or individual plates. Spoon a few tablespoons of marinara sauce into the center of each nest.

Step 8

Top each nest with two mozzarella balls to resemble 'eggs' and garnish with a fresh basil leaf.

Step 9

Optionally, drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese and black pepper. Serve immediately and enjoy!
