Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese slices
  • 6 pieces hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 6 pieces tomato slices
  • 12 slices pickles
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup mustard
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill or stovetop griddle to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾-inch thick. Use your thumb to create a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Step 4

Brush the cut sides of the hamburger buns lightly with butter and set them aside.

Step 5

Place the burger patties on the preheated grill or griddle. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on the first side until nicely seared.

Step 6

Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness (e.g., 160°F for medium). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Step 7

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the buns on the grill or griddle until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with lettuce, a cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 9

Serve the hamburgers immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries or a simple salad. Enjoy!
