Ingredients

  • 12 pieces Canned escargot
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 small Shallot (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Dry white wine
  • 4 tablespoons Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 12 pieces Snail shells or small oven-safe dishes

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

Drain the canned escargot and rinse them thoroughly under cold water. Set aside to dry on a paper towel.

Step 3

In a small skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic and chopped shallot to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes, until aromatic and translucent.

Step 5

Stir in the parsley, thyme, and white wine. Cook for another minute to allow the flavors to meld. Remove from heat.

Step 6

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Step 7

If using snail shells, place a small amount of the butter mixture into the bottom of each shell, insert an escargot, and top with more butter mixture. If using oven-safe dishes, arrange the escargot evenly across the dish and spoon the butter mixture over each piece.

Step 8

Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture generously over the top of the escargot.

Step 9

Dot the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter over the breadcrumbs for added richness.

Step 10

Place the prepared escargot dishes or shells on a baking sheet to catch any overflow and bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and bubbly.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Step 12

Serve the baked escargot with crusty bread to soak up the flavorful garlic butter and enjoy!
