Ingredients

  • 500 grams Prawns (peeled and deveined)
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 2 large Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger paste
  • 2 large Tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 2 whole Green chilies (slit)
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 0 to taste Salt
  • 500 grams Puri dough (made from wheat flour, water, and a pinch of salt)
  • 500 ml Oil (for deep frying puris)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the prawns thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Add the garlic paste and ginger paste to the onions. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they break down and form a thick gravy, about 5-7 minutes.

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook the spices for another 2 minutes.

Add the prawns and green chilies to the pan. Stir well to coat the prawns in the spice mixture.

Cover the pan and cook the prawns for 5-7 minutes, or until they are cooked through and tender.

Sprinkle garam masala and fresh coriander leaves. Mix well and remove the pan from heat. Your Bhuna Prawn is ready.

To make puris, divide the puri dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball).

Roll each ball into a thin disk using a rolling pin, ensuring they are even in thickness.

Heat oil for deep frying in a pan. Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in a rolled-out puri. Fry for about 30 seconds on one side, then flip and fry for another 10-20 seconds, until puffed and golden.

Remove the puri and drain on paper towels. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
