Ingredients

  • 1 pound Beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 large Green bell pepper
  • 1 large Red bell pepper
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon White sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 4 cups Cooked white or brown rice

Directions

Step 1

Slice the beef across the grain into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. Place the beef in a bowl and toss it with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and the cornstarch. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 2

While the beef marinates, slice the green and red bell peppers into thin strips. Slice the onion into thin wedges. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, beef broth, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. This will be your sauce mixture; set it aside.

Step 4

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once hot, add the beef in a single layer (cook in batches if necessary) and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.

Step 5

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the garlic, ginger, and onion slices, and stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 6

Add the sliced bell peppers and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

Step 7

Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the beef and vegetables. Stir well to coat, and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 8

Remove from heat and serve immediately over cooked white or brown rice.
