Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 4 slices white bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1

In a shallow bowl or pie dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sugar, and salt until fully combined.

Step 2

Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt, coating the pan.

Step 3

Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 5 seconds on each side. Let any excess mixture drip off before placing the slice into the hot pan.

Step 4

Repeat the process with another slice of bread, as many as can comfortably fit in the pan without overcrowding.

Step 5

Cook the bread slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Adjust heat as needed to avoid burning.

Step 6

Transfer the cooked French toast to a plate and loosely cover with foil to keep warm. Add the remaining butter to the pan and repeat the process with the remaining bread slices.

Step 7

Serve the French toast warm. Top with maple syrup, a light dusting of powdered sugar, and any additional toppings of your choice, such as fresh fruit or whipped cream.
