Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Fresh cranberries
  • 0.5 cup Orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Light brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cup Chopped pecans
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Rinse the cranberries under cold water and discard any damaged or shriveled berries.

Step 3

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the orange juice, orange zest, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt. Stir until the sugars are dissolved.

Step 4

Add the fresh cranberries to the mixture and stir to coat them evenly.

Step 5

Transfer the cranberry mixture to a 9x9-inch baking dish, spreading it into an even layer.

Step 6

Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the top of the cranberry mixture.

Step 7

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Step 8

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cranberries have softened and the mixture is bubbling.

Step 9

Take the dish out of the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. The relish will thicken as it cools.

Step 10

Serve warm or at room temperature alongside roasted turkey, ham, or other holiday dishes.
