Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 0.75 cup whole milk
  • 0.25 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

Step 3

Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut the cold unsalted butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Gently stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder until evenly distributed.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and sour cream until smooth. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes or until the tops of the biscuits are golden brown.

Step 8

While the biscuits are baking, prepare the topping by mixing the melted unsalted butter, chopped parsley, and 0.5 teaspoon of garlic powder in a small bowl.

Step 9

As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the tops generously with the prepared garlic butter.

Step 10

Serve the biscuits warm and enjoy immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, reheating gently before serving.
