Ingredients

  • 400 grams beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 300 grams firm beancurd, cubed
  • 200 grams shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 3 stalks green onions, chopped
  • 150 milliliters water
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the beef slices with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mix well and let marinate for at least 10 minutes.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, stirring until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Step 3

Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned and just cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the shiitake mushrooms and stir-fry until they become tender, about 3 minutes.

Step 5

Add the cubed beancurd to the skillet with the mushrooms. Gently stir to combine and cook for another 2 minutes.

Step 6

Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour in the water. Add the oyster sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 8

Sprinkle the chopped green onions over the beef and beancurd mixture. Give it a final stir and remove from heat.

Step 9

Serve the beef with beancurd and mushroom hot, accompanied by steamed rice or noodles.
