Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin
  • 60 ml soy sauce
  • 120 ml coconut milk
  • 50 grams brown sugar
  • 3 units garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 100 grams peanut butter
  • 120 ml water
  • 12 units bamboo skewers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Cut the beef sirloin into thin strips approximately 1 cm wide and 10 cm long.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, coconut milk, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, ground coriander, turmeric powder, chili powder, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved and ingredients are well combined.

Step 3

Add the beef strips to the marinade, making sure each piece is fully coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

Step 4

Soak the bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before using to prevent them from burning during cooking.

Step 5

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine peanut butter and water. Stir continuously until the peanut butter has melted and the mixture is smooth. Adjust thickness by adding more water if necessary. Keep warm.

Step 6

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly oil the grill grates with vegetable oil.

Step 7

Thread the marinated beef strips onto the soaked bamboo skewers, ensuring the meat is spread out evenly along the skewer.

Step 8

Grill the skewers for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the beef is cooked through and slightly charred.

Step 9

Remove from grill and let rest for a couple of minutes.

Step 10

Serve the beef satay sticks hot, garnished with chopped cilantro and accompanied by the warm peanut sauce for dipping.
