Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef stew meat

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon dried lime powder or juice of 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 500 milliliters water or beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro

Directions

Step 1

Dice the onion and mince the garlic. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the diced onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.

Add the minced garlic, turmeric, cumin, and cinnamon. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the beef stew meat to the pot and sear on all sides until browned. This should take about 6-8 minutes.
