Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon Pumpkin spice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.5 cup Pumpkin puree
  • 0.33 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (for honey butter)
  • 3 tablespoons Honey (for honey butter)
  • 0.125 teaspoon Salt (for honey butter)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and salt.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.

Step 5

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently combine using a spatula or your hands. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.

Step 6

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a circle roughly 1 inch thick. Cut the circle into 8 wedges (like slicing a pie).

Step 7

Place the wedges onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.

Step 8

Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Allow the scones to cool slightly on a wire rack.

Step 9

While the scones are baking, prepare the honey butter. In a small bowl, combine the unsalted butter, honey, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until smooth.

Step 10

Serve the scones warm with a generous dollop of honey butter on the side. Dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
