Ingredients

  • 1 bunch Swiss chard
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 whole Garlic cloves
  • 1 whole Small onion
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Wash the Swiss chard thoroughly under cold water, then separate the leaves from the stems. Chop the stems into small, bite-size pieces and roughly chop the leaves.

Step 2

Peel and mince the garlic cloves. Peel and finely dice the small onion.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.

Step 4

Once the oil is hot, add the diced onion and Swiss chard stems. Sauté for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onion softens and the stems are slightly tender.

Step 5

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, being careful not to let the garlic burn.

Step 6

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the Swiss chard leaves to the skillet. Stir well to combine with the onion and stems. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the leaves are wilted and tender.

Step 7

Season the sautéed Swiss chard with salt and black pepper to taste.

Step 8

Drizzle the lemon juice over the Swiss chard and give it one final stir before removing it from the heat.

Step 9

Serve warm as a side dish to accompany your favorite protein or grain.
