Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Walnuts, chopped
  • 0.75 cup Semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

In a large bowl, beat the sugar and eggs together using a hand or stand mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Mix in the vanilla extract to the egg mixture.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined to form a sticky dough.

Step 6

Fold in the chopped walnuts and semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Step 7

Divide the dough in half and shape each portion into a log approximately 12 inches long and 2 inches wide. Place the logs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart as they will spread during baking.

Step 8

Bake the logs in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are firm to the touch. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes.

Step 9

Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C).

Step 10

Using a serrated knife, slice the logs diagonally into 1/2-inch-thick slices. Arrange the slices cut side down on the baking sheet.

Step 11

Bake the biscotti slices for 10 minutes, flip them over, and bake for another 10 minutes until they are crisp and dry.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and transfer the biscotti to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 13

Store the biscotti in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
