Ingredients

  • 12 cups (cubed) Brioche bread
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 3 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons (melted) Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup (optional) Raisins
  • 2 tablespoons Bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons (for garnish, optional) Powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

Step 2

Cut the brioche bread into 1-inch cubes and spread them evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Step 4

Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Gently press the bread down into the custard using the back of a spoon or your hands.

Step 5

If using raisins, scatter them evenly throughout the bread mixture.

Step 6

Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the bread pudding.

Step 7

Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to fully absorb the custard.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 9

While the bread pudding is baking, prepare the bourbon sauce by combining 2 tablespoons of bourbon, 1/4 cup of butter, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a gentle boil and thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

Step 10

Remove the bread pudding from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before serving.

Step 11

Drizzle the warm bourbon sauce over each serving and garnish with a dusting of powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm.
