Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 large apples (e.g., Fuji or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the pork chops and set aside.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the sliced apples and sauté for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.

Step 5

Sprinkle the ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and nutmeg over the apples, then drizzle with lemon juice. Stir to coat the apples evenly in the spices.

Step 6

Pour in the chicken broth and stir to deglaze the skillet, scraping up any browned bits on the bottom of the pan.

Step 7

Nestle the seared pork chops back into the skillet, arranging them over and around the spiced apples.

Step 8

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Step 9

Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve the baked pork chops hot, spooning the cinnamon apples and pan sauce over the top for maximum flavor.
