Ingredients

  • 500 g Ground pork
  • 1 medium Apple (grated, peeled if desired)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 75 g Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Dried sage
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 250 ml Chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp Honey (optional, for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, grated apple, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, dried sage, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 3

Using your hands, shape the mixture into 16 evenly-sized meatballs, roughly the size of a golf ball.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown on the outside.

Step 5

Pour the chicken stock into the skillet, ensuring the meatballs are partially submerged. Optionally, drizzle with honey for a glossy glaze.

Step 6

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked through (internal temperature should reach 75°C or 165°F).

Step 7

Remove the meatballs from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 8

Serve the meatballs with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or over cooked pasta for a hearty meal.
