Ingredients

  • 500 grams Potatoes
  • 250 grams Gram flour (besan)
  • 50 grams Rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 500 ml Cooking oil
  • 50 ml Water

Directions

Step 1

Boil the potatoes in their skins until they are soft. Let them cool, then peel them and mash them thoroughly to avoid any lumps.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes with gram flour, rice flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, asafoetida, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.

Add lemon juice and gradually add water to form a stiff, non-sticky dough.

Heat the cooking oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.

Fill a sev maker (a traditional Indian equipment for making sev) with the prepared dough using a medium-sized nozzle.
