Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 250 grams ground pork
  • 800 grams canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 125 milliliters red wine
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 sheets lasagna noodles
  • 500 grams ricotta cheese
  • 100 grams grated Parmesan cheese
  • 250 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

Step 3

Add the ground beef and ground pork to the skillet. Cook, breaking up any lumps, until the meat is browned and fully cooked.

Step 4

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer over low heat for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

Step 5

Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Step 6

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 large egg, and chopped fresh parsley. Mix until well combined.

Step 7

Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch (22x33 cm) baking dish. Place a single layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce.

Step 8

Spread one-third of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by one-third of the remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella on top.

Step 9

Sprinkle the remaining 50 grams of Parmesan cheese over the top layer.

Step 10

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Step 11

Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your Al Brown’s Lasagna!
