Ingredients

  • 4 cups canned navy beans
  • 6 slices bacon, diced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cups ketchup
  • 0.25 cups brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 cups water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon drippings in the skillet.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté in the bacon drippings for 3-4 minutes, or until softened. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1 minute.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and water. Mix well to form a sauce.

Step 5

In a 9x13-inch baking dish, combine the navy beans, cooked onion and garlic mixture, and the crispy bacon. Pour the sauce over the beans and stir gently to combine.

Step 6

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes.

Step 7

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the sauce is thickened and bubbling.

Step 8

Let the baked beans cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
