Ingredients

  • 16 ounces firm tofu
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 pieces garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 3 stalks green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
  • 4 cups cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel, place it on a plate, and weigh it down with something heavy, like a skillet, for 10-15 minutes. Cut tofu into 1-inch cubes.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 tablespoon cornstarch until evenly coated.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden and crispy on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer tofu to a plate and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon sesame oil. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until aromatic.

Step 5

Stir in the sliced red bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrots. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 2 tablespoons soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and rice vinegar. Pour this sauce over the vegetables and stir to coat evenly.

Step 7

Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, tossing gently to combine with the vegetables and sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.

Step 8

Remove from heat and sprinkle chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds (if using) over the top.

Step 9

Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles. Enjoy your flavorful Acadia's Tofu Stir Fry!
